Instantly recognizable with his honey-smooth voice and scraggly hair, this Irish miracle seems to have taken the world by storm (and I'm not complaining!). It's always great to hear alternative singles played on mainstream radio and Take Me To Church has achieved that status. Hozier has, in fact, released two EPs and as aforementioned, one full-length album (Take Me To Church EP, From Eden EP and Hozier, respectively). Take Me To Church deals essentially with Hozier's frustration with the Catholic Church and its views towards homosexuality. "Sexuality, and sexual orientation – regardless of orientation – is just natural. An act of sex is one of the most human things. But an organization like the church, say, through its doctrine, would undermine humanity by successfully teaching shame about sexual orientation – that it is sinful, or that it offends God. The song is about asserting yourself and reclaiming your humanity through an act of love." (Hozier on the Church and sexuality, an interview with New York magazine). I really look forward to whatever he does next and wish him all the best in his continuing rise to stardom! One of my favourite songs off his full-length album is called Jackie and Wilson, have a listen!

As I said, The Kids In The Dark is the second song to have been released of All Time Low's new album - Future Hearts. I personally love the song and by the looks of Twitter alone, so does everyone else! It's got more of a Love Like War (ft. Vic Fuentes) feel to it compared to their previous albums. This anthem may be stuck in your head for hours on end - but you won't mind. The video shows a girl stuck between her fighting parents. She runs away to join...well...the kids in the dark. This video explodes with neon colours and beautiful shots of the included youth. And, of course, cuts to the band. All Time Low couldn't be heading in a better direction, I'm ridiculously excited to see what they'll release next! Future Hearts is set to release April 7th, 2015 via Hopeless Records. |
